Decidedly Academic. Distinctively Christian.

New Leadership Team Announced

Foothill Christian School is proud to announce the hiring of two key administrators for the upcoming school year. Linda Thompson has been promoted to serve as Vice-Principal of Curriculum and Instruction and Jennifer Mounday has been appointed as our new Dean of Students and Activities.

According to Superintendent, Bo Gutzwiller, “When looking to create our new leadership team, we didn’t have to search beyond our own campus. Both ladies are currently on staff at FCS and extremely well-qualified for their positions. The upside of hiring from within is they know our students, our families and our campus culture. They are ready to ‘hit the ground running’!”

It is our pleasure to introduce them to you in their new roles.

Linda Thompson

Vice-Principal of Curriculum and Instruction

Linda has served in Christian education for the past 33 years. She holds a Bachelor of Theology degree in pastoral studies and a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis on school administration. She came to Foothill Christian in 2007 after serving as principal of Living Way Christian Academy in Pasadena. Her teaching experience has spanned primary through high school.

During her tenure at FCS, Ms. Thompson has taught third, fifth, and sixth grades as well as various junior high enrichment classes. For the past three years, Linda has served as our Curriculum Director overseeing teacher training and curriculum implementation. With more than a dozen years experience chairing and serving on accreditation teams for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), she has also taken on the task of overseeing the school’s upcoming accreditation self-study.

In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, watching old movies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

When asked about her new position, Miss Thompson said, “I look forward to the journey ahead. I believe the Lord has prepared me for such a time as this. I am excited about my new role and all the good things the Lord has in store for our school.”

Vice-Principal’s Role: Miss Thompson will be the direct supervisor of all TK – 8th grade teachers. Her duties include curriculum development, textbook evaluation and adoption, teacher professional development and training, classroom observations, and teacher evaluations and Terra-Nova testing. When you think of Curriculum and Instruction think…Ms. Thompson!

Jennifer Mounday

Dean of Students and Activities

Jen Mounday is a professional educator with a decade of elementary and middle school teaching experience. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Master of Arts in Education and a multiple-subject teaching credential from Azusa Pacific University.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Mounday has enjoyed coordinating programs, designing curriculum and conducting teacher training for highly able and gifted youth K-8th grades. Much of what she’s learned about behavior modification and counseling comes from the season she and her husband, Charles, managed a home of ten, homeless and at-risk youth at Mooseheart Child City and School in Illinois. Jen has also taught in a recreational capacity creating and implementing summer camps for area schools and local non-profits. Ultimately, her heart is for Christian education and she has been proud to call FCS home for the last three years.

Two years ago, Jen and Charles become the foster parents of two beautiful little girls who are now on the track to adoption. Hiking, camping and reading are some favorite family activities. Jen can be found jogging in her neighborhood with golden retriever, Buzz, and drinking many, many cups of green tea per day. She is an active member of Foothill Church.

Dean of Students Role: Mrs. Mounday will monitor and supervise student discipline for all grade levels TK-8th. She will serve as guidance counselor for junior high students assisting them with elective courses and class placements. She will oversee all ACSI student activities and co-curricular programs including Junior Beta Club, sports, science camps, cheer, and Spirit Days. When you think of student behavior or student activities think…Mrs. Mounday!
