Decidedly Academic. Distinctively Christian.

Burying a Time Capsule

This has been such a momentous year for Foothill Christian School as we’ve looked back, with grateful hearts, on the many ways God has directed this important ministry for the past fifty years. When we began celebrating the anniversary last September, we were greatly inspired to have many tangible reminders, such as letters, promotional materials, yearbooks, and historic photos. What a treasure trove at our fingertips!

This celebration year is already drawing to a close, which is why we desire to leave behind—for a future generation—a historic collection of school memorabilia placed in a Time Capsule later this month. Contents are going to include 50th anniversary items, such as representative literature, news clips, articles of clothing, and collectibles with the FCS brand. Other collectibles, like select publications, yearbooks, photographs, digital interviews (like the one conducted with our founding pastor, Gerald Fry, in 2013), student essays written (gleaned from a writing contest), will be included.

In 2039, when the Time Capsule is unearthed, we hope those who follow find this small, but priceless treasure, an inspiring revelation into this time frame of Foothill life in 2014. Like those early founders of the school, may the contents serve to affirm the mission and fuel the purpose of this hallowed institution.

Our groundbreaking ceremony on the Baseline campus will take place during school on Friday, May 23. More information will be coming in the weeks ahead.

Online giving day is TODAY! We need 100% participation from FCS families to reach our goal. Your student is coming home with a red bracelet on his/her wrist to remind you to go online and give today! Link in profile. 18,000 hearts were glued together in the last 36 hours for one of our exhibit installations! Hats off to our 50+ volunteers who made it happen. This installation captures the beauty of community, a compilation of unique individuals (i.e. hearts) coming together as a whole. We are all made by God, in His image, therefore each and every person is valuable. Imagine if we treated everyone with that in mind! Visit the exhibit next Thursday and Friday to see more. @oneschoolsresponse We’re a little over a week away for Foothill’s largest event of the year!
