FCS Golf Classic Scholarship Fund Helps Carry Financial Burden

Like a faithful caddie who helps his player by shouldering some weight, FCS’s Scholarship Fund helps lift some of the financial burden of tuition for families going through hard times.  For the past 17 years, FCS has designated all proceeds from its annual charity golf classic to a Scholarship Fund.  This war chest is all about awarding grants when the burden becomes too hard to bear. Recipients—who number over 100 since the tournament was first conceived—have known the pain of unemployment and extended medical care, to the death of a loved one and struggles of single-parenting.  The vision for the fund began in the heart of Superintendent, Bo Gutzwiller, who far-too-often had to face the tearful realities of parents forced to withdraw their children from the school.  “With a small team of dedicated parents, we launched the annual charity golf classic with lots of hope and prayer.  We had one idea in mind, and that was to grow a fund to be available to prevent any family from having to withdraw their children because of hardship.” he said.

The 18th Annual Golf Classic gets underway on Monday, May 13th at South Hills Country Club, Covina.  Over the years, Gutzwiller said, “we’ve built a first-class golf tournament that has garnered great respect from players who take their game very seriously, to those who come simply to enjoy a relaxing day of golf with wonderful people.”  For a second straight year, Century 21 Marty Rodriguez will serve as Title Sponsor, along with a host of other Corporate Sponsors like The Legend Group, NuHome Financial, Foothill Family Dental Group, Spectrum Commercial Lending, Red Dot Uniforms, and WF Construction.

Whether you’re an individual player, a small business, or a major corporation, we welcome you to come spend the day at South Hills Country Club.
